Hansea publishes its first sustainability report

Hansea has published its first audited sustainability report. In this report, we show where we stand today, the steps we are already taking and where we aim to improve further in the years ahead in terms of sustainability and Corporate Social Responsibility.
For Hansea, sustainability means taking responsibility. For our employees, our passengers and communities, our customers, our partners and our planet.
Transparency is an important step in that process. By clearly showing what is going well and where improvement is still needed, we remain honest with ourselves and with the environment in which we operate every day.
Every day, our drivers safely take thousands of people to school, work, appointments or outings. We take that role seriously. As one of the largest private bus and coach companies in Belgium, we want to help build mobility that is reliable, safe and future-oriented.
In this sustainability report, we map our impact in a structured way for the first time. We look at four main pillars:
- Our planet: climate change, pollution, water, resource use and waste;
- Our people: equal opportunities, health and safety, learning and development;
- Our passengers and communities: road safety and passenger satisfaction;
- Our governance: ethics and compliance, cybersecurity and data privacy, and sustainable business relationships.
An important part of our approach is the further greening of our fleet. In 2025, 23% of Hansea’s fleet was already made up of zero-emission vehicles, and that share will continue to increase. We are also continuing to invest in thoughtful energy management, water reuse, waste management and safe, healthy working conditions.
Did you know?
- In 2025, 23% of Hansea’s fleet was already electric.
- Our direct CO₂ emissions were lower than in 2024, despite an increase in the number of kilometres driven.
- 22% of management at Hansea is female.
- Hansea developed its own KPI to track injuries involving passengers and third parties.
“In a very short time, we have taken an important step forward. This is our first sustainability report, and we have succeeded in strongly aligning it with the latest version of the ESRS standards while having it voluntarily audited. This truly demonstrates the importance we attach to sustainability, reliability and responsible business.”
Hans van Dam, Group Sustainability Manager
With this report, we want to transparently show where we stand today. Not as an end point, but as a starting point. Step by step, we continue to build a better Hansea: for our employees, our passengers, our customers and the communities in which we drive every day.
